Beto O’Rourke to sign books, speak in Abilene

Beto O’Rourke, author of We’ve Got to Try: How the Fight for Voting Rights Makes Everything Else Possible, will be in Abilene for a book signing promoting voter registration and voting rights on Sunday, May 5, from 1-3 p.m. at Texas Star Trading Company, 174 Cypress Street downtown.

The Abilene book signing is part of a statewide tour for the paperback edition of We’ve Got to Try ($18.99), following a national tour earlier this year. The book came out in hardcover in 2022.

The McMurry University Political Awareness Club will be manning a voter registration table at the non-partisan event.

O’Rourke will speak and take a few questions before signing books. Copies may be reserved in advance by calling Texas Star Trading at 325-672-9696 or emailing info@texasstartrading.com.

O’Rourke, former congressman from El Paso, ran unsuccessfully for senator in 2018 and governor in 2022. He is not a candidate for public office this year.
