Hank the Cowdog #82: The Case of the Poetic Bird Dog
By John Erickson
How does John Erickson keep doing it? His 82nd Hank the Cowdog book is now available! The new 115-page adventure starts off this way:
“It’s me again, Hank the Cowdog. I was born in a ditch on a cold stormy night and nobody cared. Actually, that’s not true but I like the sound of it and thought it would be kind of an exciting way to kick off a new story. Heh heh.”
And a few pages later: “The Dump Truck of Life had unloaded five tons of manure on top of my head and I didn’t think it could get any worse. You know what? It did.”
And that’s before we ever get to the fact that Plato the poetic bird dog is missing. Again.
When we do get to Plato the poetic bird dog, we are treated to this opening stanza in his “masterpiece poem:”
“Unless you’re a gastroenterologist,
you probably never would guess,
there’s a name for the gurgling noises
that our bellies sometimes express.”
Maybe Plato should just stay missing. But, then, Hank would probably just have to go find him. Again.
Paperback, 136 pages.
