The paperback book explores facts about the June 19 holiday:
— A holiday to celebrate June 19, 1865, when Black Texans finally learned of their freedom
— Family gatherings feature red foods, such as red velvet cake, in memory of the blood shed in the fight for freedom
— 89-year-old activist Opal Lee walked about 1,400 miles to help make Juneteenth a national holiday.
The paperback book includes illustrations and 16 pages of photographs. The book measures 5.5×7.5″, and is 124 pages.
