A new book has just been published for children — “written” by Gus Perini — the famous steakhouse’s Bassett Hound!

The children’s book is beautifully illustrated by Connie Cutcher Weeks of Austin … and will be enjoyed by children and adults who have visited the famous steakhouse in Buffalo Gap.

Gus will be at Texas Star in Abilene for a book signing from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 — the Saturday after Thanksgiving. If you can’t attend, give us a call and we’ll get a book “pawtographed” for you!

beating goliathCoach Art Briles, head football coach at Baylor, will be at Texas Star from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, to sign copies of his new book. “Beating Goliath: My Story of Football and Faith” was just released Tuesday, July 15. We’re very excited to have Coach Briles coming to Abilene. This is a homecoming of sorts for him, since he spent 10 years of his youth here in Abilene. He has other Big Country ties — his family moved to Rule from Abilene, and he coached in Stephenville. We hope you’ll stop by our store Saturday to meet Coach Briles and get a book signed. He will only be signing books that are purchased at Texas Star. If you can’t make it to the book signing, we’ll be happy to have a book signed for you. Texas Star is closed for Christmas, and will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27. Regular hours resume … 10-5 Monday-Friday and 10-4 on Saturday.

Next week, we’ll close at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31 so we can get all decked out for our New Year’s Eve celebration. We’ll be closed on Wednesday, January 1, and will reopen at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2.
