Hello there!

We’ve had several successful book signings in our store lately … and we like to pass those opportunities along to you.

“There Was an Old Dragon Who Swallowed a Knight” is a wonderful new children’s book. It’s not about Texas, but the author — Penny Klostermann — is from Abilene, Texas! We’ve sold hundreds of her new book, published by Random House. Order from us and you’ll get a signed copy. If you want one personalized, just let us know and we’ll track her down! Email us at info.texasstar@yahoo.com for details about personalizations.

And although we didn’t have a book signing for Dr. Kent and Amber Brantly, we do have signed copies of their book  — “Called for Life: How Loving our Neighbor led us into the Heart of the Ebola Epidemic.” You’ve probably heard about Dr. Brantly — he actually contracted the deadly disease while caring for patients in Liberia. He’s a Texan and we’re excited to have a limited number of his books that are signed. Order soon to get one of those!

There are plenty more autographed books available on our website. Just check out the Autographed Books link.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Texas author Tim Madigan will speak at the Abilene Public Library Monday regarding his book “I’m Proud of You.” The book tells the story of Madigan’s friendship with Fred Rogers — TV’s famous Mr. Rogers. Madigan is also the author of a novel “Every Common Sight.”

The talk begins at noon Monday, May 11, in the upstairs auditorium of the Abilene Public Library, 202 Cedar in downtown Abilene. The talk is free, and lunch is available for $5 if you’re interested. You can bring your own lunch if you prefer.

Book signing will follow. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Friends of the Abilene Public Library.

Stop in at Texas Star in downtown Abilene and take advantage of our holiday clearance sale. We’re open 10-5 Dec. 29-30, and we close at 3 on New Year’s Eve. We’re closed New Year’s Day, and regular hours resume on Friday, Jan. 2.
