This hardcover book is designed to be two books in one.
The first book is a reprint of “Early Days in West Texas.” The second section is by Miss Tommie Clack, a First Lady of Abilene and just a month younger than the town itself.
The first portion is written by Mrs. John B. Clack, and tells about the journey in a covered wagon to West Texas befeore the railroad stretched this far west, even before there was a town of Abilene. The book includes a first-hand account of the arrival of the train, which gave life to Abilene.
The second “view” is remembrances of Miss Tommie Clack,a former school teacher from 1906 until her retirement in 1950.
